Ice packs / Ice cup massage
Can be used to reduce swelling in the tissues and decrease pain. Surface cooling restricts blood flow, decreases pain and reduce muscle spasms.
Moist Heat / Hydrocollator (Superficial Heat)
Can be used to decrease pain, decrease muscle spasm, decrease elevated muscle tone and increase blood flow.
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS)
Can assist in the breakup of myofascial adhesions, increase vascular pumping to reduce inflammation, strengthen muscle after injury, fatigue muscle spasms and break up adhesions that have accumulated around joints.
Our clinic offers both traditional waveform EMS as well as H-wave EMS. H-Wave is proven to result in significant vasodilation, increased blood flow and angiogenesis (formation of new blood vessels) which speeds healing.
Ultrasound (deep heat)
Continuous Ultrasound can be used for deeper penetration of heat in order to soften tissues, assist in the breakup of myofascial adhesions, increase blood flow and decrease pain. Ultrasound can also be used to drive analgesic/anti-inflammatory molecules deep into an injured area (Phonophoresis) or for Micromassage (Pulsed Ultrasound) to help connective tissue such as ligaments to heal faster with better scar tissue organization.
Can be used to relieve compression, stretch spinal segments, reduce muscle spasms and reduce swelling/edema.
Spinal Decompression Traction
Decompression Therapy is a modern, high tech, non-surgical traction procedure that effectively treats disabling low back, neck, and radiating leg and arm pain. This type of traction is very successful in relieving pain associated with disc herniation, degenerative discs, and posterior facet syndromes, due to decompression of spinal discs and facet joints by utilizing traction, distraction and positioning. This therapy effectively enhances the healing process and renders quick, effective and amazing pain relief that enables most patients to return to a more active lifestyle. Research to develop this procedure was conducted by prominent physicians, engineers and technicians at major teaching hospitals.
