Elite Spinal & Sports Care has been offering Active Release Techniques (ART) to the Sacramento area since 2004. What sets ART apart is its use of friction and tension to break up adhesions that form within or between damaged muscles, fascia, tendons, nerve tracts, and ligaments. Our ART-certified doctors and therapists use hands-on techniques while the affected muscles are in motion.
We can assess the damaged tissue and release adhesions, separating bound tissue and restoring function. ART is specifically designed to evaluate and treat damaged soft tissue, addressing many injuries previously considered untreatable—sometimes in just a few visits. When properly applied, ART has a success rate of over 90%, even with chronic problems like carpal tunnel syndrome and rotator cuff tendonitis.
When soft tissue is injured, it forms fibrotic adhesions that impede movement and can even entrap nerves, all of which ART addresses.
Adhesions can form due to acute trauma or repetitive microtrauma . If not addressed, they can cause constant pressure and tension on tissues, leading to increased friction, pressure, and tension between tissues and nearby structures. This cycle results in more inflammation and bleeding, further adhesion buildup, decreased circulation, and edema. Reduced circulation leads to hypoxia (inadequate oxygen to the area), causing more adhesions to form. The longer this cycle continues, the worse it gets, forcing the body to compensate and potentially leading to new injuries.
